Jon grew up on a dairy farm in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Juniata College, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris in 2012.
After graduation, Jon worked nearly 2 years as a swine-exclusive veterinarian in Iowa. He returned to Pennsylvania in 2014 and joined Lancaster Swine Health Services, P.C.
“I enjoy getting out to different operations and talking with the farmers about their individual needs,” Jon said. “I find helping farmers improve their production or being able to help them with a farming issue to be the most gratifying part of my career.”
In his spare time, Jon helps on the family farm that includes a 2,500-head multiplication herd, with a pen-gestation unit equipped with electronic sow feeders. He is married to Ellen and his hobbies include hiking, fishing, hunting and playing soccer.
