David Buckwalter, VMD

David Buckwalter grew up in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, and earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in equine science from Pennsylvania State University.

David’s passion for agriculture and animal health began at an early age. Growing up, he worked on his family’s layer farm, packing eggs, and developed his interest in livestock by showing a variety of species through Lancaster County 4-H. During his time at Penn State, David continued to build his experience in animal agriculture while working at the Swine Research Center, where he gained valuable knowledge and practical skills in swine production.

David entered veterinary school with a strong interest in swine medicine and dedicated his summers and clinical rotations to developing his expertise in swine and large animal medicine. He further expanded his experience through an externship with Lancaster Swine Health Services before earning his Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris from the University of Pennsylvania in 2026.

Following graduation, David joined Lancaster Swine Health Services, P.C., and is excited to return to his hometown to provide high-quality veterinary care to the agricultural community. His professional interests include reproduction, internal medicine, and surgery. He enjoys the variety that comes with practicing large animal medicine and the opportunity to work with producers across different livestock operations.

Outside of veterinary medicine, David enjoys spending time with family, coaching soccer, running, fishing, golfing, and pursuing activities that allow him to enjoy the outdoors.
